The
Jumbo Versipack from Maxpedition is a high quality product with many
potential uses. This pack is small, compact and versatile with more
compartments and pouches than I have room here to describe. This pack can be
used in many different ways -- it is designed for conceal carry, can be used
on hiking/outdoor trips to carry all of you small necessities or can be used
as a "grab and go" type bag for emergency call-outs. The pack is
designed for expansion with Hook & Loop Accessories through Maxpedition
as well as areas to mount accessories using military style alice clips. The Versipack is comfortable
to wear with a padded shoulder strap and padding on the hip/waist area. The
shoulder strap makes it easy to quickly swing the bag to the front, get what
you need and swing it around your back out of the way. The bag also has a
Hook & Loop to attach the pack to your belt to keep it stationary. The only potential downside I can find on this pack is the fact that being so
compact with so many compartments may make it difficult to find what you need
quickly. This is a great pack with uses limited
only by your imagination.

I recently received the Maxpedition
Jumbo Versipack in black. I work in plain clothes as a narcotics investigator
as my primary assignment and had been searching for a good “rapid deployment”
bag. This bag appears to be well made with ballistic nylon. I could not find
any flaws in the stitching anywhere. This is a very versatile bag that can
fill a number of duties. The main compartment 9’wide X9” deep X 5” thick and
can expand more if needed. The main compartment also has a light duty
covering that can be used to keep out dust or moisture. If not used, it will
not get in the way. My first thought was that the main compartment would be
great to store extra magazines be they M-4, MP-5 or anything like them. I put
six thirty round M-4 mags in the main compartment and still had room for
more. The main compartment has a flap covering that is secured with a fastex
buckle that can be locked but simply sliding down a button. The button is
easily located and manipulated. The flap has two additional compartments that
are accessible on the outside of the flap. One flap could easily hold one or
two sets of handcuffs or similar sized items. The other could hold a cell
phone, GPS or again, anything the user could think of that would be of
similar size. The top outside pocket has several molle straps on the top
pocket and a Velcro section that you could put a ID patch on for
identification purposes. Once the flap is opened there is a large 6” X 7”
zippered pocket with a mesh separator. Inside the pocket located at the top
is a strap with a plastic hook to attach whatever you may to get to quickly
such as keys . There is also a storage pouch on the outside of this pocket.
The Versipack has a radio pouch with a Velcro closure that looks as though it
will accommodate most any size handheld radio. On the opposite side of the
pack there is yet another zippered pouch measuring approximately 3” wide X 7
“ deep. Located on the inner part of the pack behind the main compartment is
a large zippered opening pouch. All of the zippers worked easily and had pull
strings attached to them for ease of accessibility and use. There are
numerous places on the outside of this pack that have the molle attachment
points. The carrying strap is made of 2” wide nylon and is easily adjustable.
The strap has a metal clip that the user can attach whatever they desire to
such as keys, a flashlight, etc. The strap can be kept closed or can be
opened through a fastex buckle. The inner part of the pack is well cushioned
and has a Velcro strap attachment that you can attach to your belt to keep in
place if you so desire.
The possibilities for the use of this pack is limited only to your
imagination. Numerous uses come to mind such as plain clothes officers that
have a vest that is not load bearing. The times of not having what you need
are over with. A duty belt could not carry as much equipment as you can put
in this bag. A uniform patrol officer that is getting out on an extraordinary
deployment situation would find this bag useful. In addition to the extra
equipment that may be needed on an extraordinary deployment, put a bottle of
water, some energy bars, etc and you are prepared for an extended period away
from your vehicle. I would recommend this pack to other members. I don’t think you will be disappointed if
you are in the market for such a bag.
