Proteus™ Versipack®

The compact Proteus Versipack is all about options. Proteus was named after a mythological character that could take on many shapes and forms. The Proteus has 10 rows of exterior PALS webbing to accommodate modular accessories and comes equipped with compression straps that snap into its integral handle to secure contents.
This is a great bag to have when setting forth on your odyssey. It transforms from a hand-carried storage case into a self-contained butt-pack in less than 5 seconds.

    Great bag

I absolutely love this bag. It is small but it holds a surprising amount of gear and you don't really feel the weight because it rests on your hips. I love using this bag for hikes when I don't want to take a bulky backpack but just want to carry some essentials. The main compartment easily holds a 32 oz Nalgene bottle and leaves room in the other compartments for gear like small binoculars, a compass, fire starter, etc. Highly recommended.

    Top Notch

I was originally looking for the Maxpedition Devildog because of the ability to hold my nalgene bottles but discovered it is now discontinued. Maxpedition recommended the Proteus. I went with the recommendation and I am very pleased with it. The Proteus will hold two 16 oz water bottles in the main compartment with room for my fixed blade knife, water filter and a few odd items. This meant I had to be selective with what went in the front, and side pouches, but it actually worked out better than I expected since it kept the weight/size perfect for my needs. I use it for my EDC gear and probably have more than I need in there. I also like the fact that the waistband can be tucked in so I can carry it like a small toolbag normally but if I need my hands free, I can have it around my waist in seconds. It would also work well in tandem with my GHB. The Proteus's organized compartments would make it quick redistribute gear from the backpack so as to have certain things easily accessible if I needed to move fast. Quality of material is excellent and the zippers look like they will stand up to much use. Overall I would give it a 9 out of 10, only because nothing is prefect, but the Proteus is as close to it as I need. I definitely recommend it !

    Love My Versipack

I enjoy using my versipack. There are enough compartments for me to use everything I need, including my firearm. It’s long enough and truly like the handle on it as well when you grab it up fast. I had a beige one but got on the website and order it in black. Looks more masculine for me.. Good Job to the designer
